  3. Because of feedback from various people, I have added the following
  4. enhancements:

  6. First, my apologies to my global users.  I have added fields for country,
  7. postal code, and prefixes.  The way I did it isn't my favorite, but I used a
  8. separate "POSTAL" database and related it, so that the program would work on
  9. previous versions data files, as well as not creating unnecessary database
  10. entries.

  12. (Thanks Chris... I forgot to consider how far this program might reach.)

  14. I also changed the mailing labels to not only incorporate the appropriate
  15. additional fields, as well as removing the name of the fields (what possessed
  16. me to put the field names in for mailing labels, I'll never know...)  As 
  17. before, these mailing labels only print for those people with the
  18. "Club Membership" is set to "Y".   The new fields are also included in the
  19. verbose report.

  22. Changes in Version 2.0
  23.  
  24. A separate database with members personal info, including address, phone,
  25. birthdate, anniversary, spouses name, club membership, RACES/ARES info, etc.

  27. This was done as a separate database for two reasons:
  28.  
  29. 1. To insure compatibility with Version 1.0.
  30.  
  31. 2. To protect confidential/personal info about members if a club wanted to
  32.    selectively distribute info about their members.
  33.  
  34. I produced screens and reports to support these new fields, as well as put
  35. in a feature to generate club mailing labels...
  36.  
  37. Also, as a bonus, I threw in a repeater database system, so you can track info
  38. about your favorite public/private repeaters.
  39.  
  40. The program will take about 500K to run, and runs faster with more memory.

  42. Be sure that there is a statement in your CONFIG.SYS file that says (at least)
  43.  
  44. FILES = 70
  45.  
  46. This is the biggest problem people have, next to insufficient memory is that
  47. they don't tell DOS to allow for a lot of open data and key files.

  49. My local amateur radio clubs keep track of a lot of personal info about people,
  50. such as birthdays and anniversaries, and as we are rural, the people here are
  51. very friendly.  My wife also recently earned her Tech-no-code license (Cindy-
  52. KE6PSV).

  54. If you want to give people basic contact info about people in your club, just
  55. give them the CALLLTRS.DAT and CALLLTRS.MEM files along with the program, as 
  56. CALLADDR.DAT may have private info that you may not want everybody to have...
